Best Nightlife in Hong Kong

Best Nightlife in Hong Kong

Hong Kong nightlife, as to be expected for such a world-renowned travel destination, is fun, friendly and incredibly diverse. The city is at its most spectacular when the sun goes down, and the skyscrapers begin to illuminate the harbour, whilst pubs, clubs and night markets draw in thousands every night of the week.

This city-state is already known to be compact, and you’ll find options for nightlife in Hong Kong to be even more concentrated, with the vast majority of bars, clubs and restaurants located around the Central area of Hong Kong main island. Don’t forget to cross the harbour on a boat and make your way up one of Kowloon’s ever-growing list of rooftop bars too!

This list of the best nightlife in Hong Kong has been compiled to suit all kinds of visitor – from family-friendly after-dark activities such as seeing the iconic Symphony of Lights, to a full overview of Hong Kong’s best places to party - we’ve got it covered.

Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo

This is Hong Kong’s party central; a compact square of streets in Central Hong Kong containing many bars, restaurants, clubs and drinking dens. Lan Kwai Fong is crowded every night and gets packed on its festival days and New Year’s Eve. Revellers wander from bar to bar and every place is full of people intent on partying the night away. SoHo around Hollywood Road surrounds Lan Kwai Fon, and is home to even more bars and pubs (though a little more chilled out) as well as the world's longest covered escalator!

Rooftop Bars

It’s often said that looking at Hong Kong’s skyline from the main Hong Kong Island (the tourist centre) is like viewing the Eiffel Tower whilst standing on it. Therefore, one of the best things to do is go over to the opposite side, Kowloon, and head up one of the many swanky rooftop bars, many of which have sprung up in recent years. The highest of the lot is Ozone, 118 floors up at Ritz Carlton hotel. Aqua Spiritbar also boasts some spectacular views and is widely tipped as the best bar in Hong Kong, whilst rooftop bar fans will also love the nearbyEyebar

Symphony of Lights - Victoria Harbour

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Hong Kong Symphony of Lights is the world's largest permanent light and sound show. This iconic sight is a bit of an obvious choice in terms of nightlife in Hong Kong, but one in which no first time visitor should miss out on. The already stunning Victoria Harbour is lit up brilliantly with coordinated lights from 45 major buildings on both sides. Head to Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade or Golden Bauhinia Square at 20:00 for the best vantage points.

The Peak

If there is only one thing you can do in Hong Kong, go to The Peak. If you have many things to do here, still go to The Peak. The highest point on Hong Kong Island, this has been the city’s most exclusive neighbourhood since colonial times — back then it was the cooler air that attracted the rich and famous; in the post air-conditioning era, the views of one of the world’s most spectacular cityscapes keep them coming. That view is also what makes The Peak one of the most popular attractions in Hong Kong. By day your eyes stretch across sparkling skyscrapers and Victoria Harbour all the way to the green hills of the New Territories. In early evening this panorama melts into pink and orange before reincarnating as a dazzling galaxy of light, shimmering beneath you.

Hong Kong Disneyland

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Hong Kong Disneyland is presenting the most spectacular live show ever! This sensational all-park event cannot be missed — the biggest musical numbers performed live by the greatest Disney stars, magical stage designs, extraordinary dance performances and countless heart-warming moments will bring you a truly ‘Happily Ever After’ celebration.

Ocean Park Hong Kong

Opened in 1977, Ocean Park Hong Kong is a marine-life theme park featuring animal exhibits, thrill rides and shows. In 2012, its impressive ability to offer guests a world-class experience that blends entertainment with education and conservation was confirmed when it became the first Asian winner of the biannual Applause Award, the most prestigious award in the amusement and theme park industry.

The park is located on the southern side of Hong Kong Island, covering more than 915,000 square metres. The Waterfront and The Summit areas are connected by the Cable Car and Ocean Express funicular train.
